The coronavirus outbreak has reached the Bronx, New York after a confirmed case has been reported involving a student’s dad in an Orthodox Jewish school in the city. Because of this, two other suburban Jewish schools are also closing and keep their students at home. Prior to the school closures, a confirmed case of a 50-year-old Westchester County attorney was reported. The man was first hospitalized at New York Presbyterian-Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville after complaining of respiratory issues. He was then transferred to a Manhattan facility for additional treatment. One of the attorney's children attends SAR in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. However, his connection to the schools was unclear and the suspension of classes was taken as a precautionary measure.
